Specify new or Classic UI

TotalView features the next generation user interface of its debugger. The most commonly used features are supported, and all TotalView functionality is fully available through the Command Line Interface (CLI), even if a feature has not yet been added to the new UI. However, if you want to use the Classic Interface, you can set it as a preference.

To select your UI preference:

  1. Select File > Preferences to open the Preferences dialog.

  2. On the Display tab, select either New Interface or Classic Interface, depending on the interface that you want.

  3. Click OK.

  4. Restart TotalView.

The documentation in this Help system describes the new user interface. For Classic UI documentation, see TotalView 2024.4 documentation for Classic Totalview.
The UI preference that you select on the Preferences dialog is ignored when you start TotalView using the command line option to specify the UI. For example, totalview -classicUI or totalview -newUI. To learn more, see Command-Line Options.

It is also ignored if you have set the TVNEWUI environment variable. To learn more, see Program Environment.
