MPI programs use a starter program such as
mpirun to start your program. You can start these MPI programs in two ways: with the starter program under TotalView control, or using the GUI, in which case the starter program is not under TotalView control. In the first case, you will enter the name of the starter program on the command line. In the latter, you will enter program information into the
File > Debug New Parallel Program or
Process > Startup Parameters dialog boxes.
Starting MPI programs using the dialog boxes is the recommended method. This method is described in the next section. Starting using a starter program is described in various discussions throughout this chapter.
