About Threads, Processes, and Groups
While the specifics of how multi-process, multi-threaded programs execute differ greatly between hardware platforms, operating systems, and compilers, all share some general characteristics. This chapter defines a general model for conceptualizing the way processes and threads execute and introduces the concepts of threads, processes, and groups.
