TotalView User Guide : Part I: Introduction : A Tour of TotalView : Basic Debugging with TotalView

Basic Debugging with TotalView
While the debugging process in TotalView is similar to that of most other debuggers, TotalView differs in its power, the breadth of commands available, and its native ability to handle multi-process, multi-threaded programs.
The first steps when debugging programs with TotalView are similar to those using other debuggers:
*
Use the –g option to compile the program. See Compiling Programs”
*
*
Set breakpoints and examine your program’s data. This section introduces the TotalView equivalent of a breakpoint, called an action point, and discusses some of the ways you can examine data.
